The supreme council of antiquities in Egypt announced the tremendous effort by young archeologists in restoration the colors of the columns in Karnak temple is perfectly restored and new each visitor will enjoy showing the original colors on the columns.
In the biggest temple complex in Egypt, “Karnak temple,” which was built for nearly 1500 years and finished by the 6th-century b.c, something inside inspires each visitor from Egypt and worldwide.
Hall of Columns in Karnak temple, which is now a great puzzle, explains the technique of building it in the 11th-century b.c, during the reign of King Ramses the second and his father seti the first in the eleventh-century b.c.
The biggest one in all Egypt, the hall of columns contains 134 columns in 5200 square meters.
It consisted of two enormous rows of 12 columns in the middle of the hall higher than other columns.
The 12 columns have capitals in the form of open papyrus, the symbol of lower Egypt; meanwhile, the other 122 columns are divided into both sides of the hall with close-papyrus capital.
The difference in height between columns in the middle and both sides are due to this hall’s lighting system since a ceiling covered the whole hall from stone. The difference in height between columns was a window, which allowed sunrays to enter the hall of columns, making a fascinating, stunning lighting system for the priests inside the hall.
The archeologists started to restore the left row of middle columns, and now they are working to restore to the row on the right. Later on, they will continue to restore the colors of all columns in this hall.
