In each country there is a high building or tower was constructed in modern times; for example: in Paris, there is the tower of Eiffel, in Dubai, there is Burj khalifa, in Cairo’s close to downtown, there is a greeting tower built on the form of lotus flower during the reign of president Nasser in the year 1961
The reason for building the tower
In brief, The American government paid the total cost of this tower. The Americans wanted to keep the Egyptian situation and strategy following the same path as America. Indirectly offered the funds used in building this tower which was the replay of president Gamal Abdel Nasser, to be seen on the other side of the river Nile, so clear to the American embassy !!!
Design of the tower
Lebanese architect naoom sheab achieved this tower’s design, this tower in the shape of the lotus flower, which was the symbol of upper Egypt in ancient times and the source of essence.
The tower is built on a grand pedestal from cement, covering around 150 sm; the building’s height is 187 meters, approximately 41 meters higher than the great pyramid in Giza.

A restaurant is on the top of the tower built on a circular observation deck, so visitors enjoy the Cairo and Giza panorama.
The restaurant offers oriental and European food and beverage with high standard service & delicious taste.

when to visit?
The tower is daily open from 12.00 to 00.00, the best time to visit during sunset to see Cairo and Giza’s panorama in the day, evening, and the lighting of all the views.
Always on the weekend on Thursday and Friday evening, there is a very long queue.
how to go ?
it is very easy to visit Cairo tower, if you are downtown, so you can walk on your feet for not more than 20 minutes you will be there. if you anywhere in Cairo you will find easily public buses go to the central station downtown close to Cairo tower, or its better to use the metro through its four lines which are all connected to gather you can go to elgazira station, which is very close to Cairo tower.

A 20-year-old Egyptian student committed suicide on 30 November 2019 after jumping off Cairo Tower, he was the fifth person who committed suicide in Cairo tower after its inauguration.
